Hello and welcome, I’m a wife and mom to a preschooler making more out of every day since I became my own boss. I’m loving the amazing career and lifestyle change of working from home. I’m excited to share the knowledge I’ve gained and my experiences to simplify the process and help other women grow their career working from home.
You can almost always find me in flip flops and pearls whether I’m spending time with my family, working from my back porch or shopping at Trader Joe’s.
A question I’m asked often is why I went out on my own. I have been lucky to have worked for some amazing bosses and mentors. And I’ve worked for some not so good ones too.
I prided myself on being a team player but started to notice the specialists were the ones being recognized, rewarded and promoted. The team players were being left behind.
Upon the realization that to get ahead I needed to be a specialist I refocused how I spent my time at work. I prioritized new team assignments based on the return on the investment of my time and effort toward my career goals. I prioritized teams and roles that allowed me to learn new skills and grow new relationships.
Because of this, I gained knowledge about something highly valued in my industry and became a “go to person.” I was the specialist. This specialized knowledge led to a call with an offer of long term contract. Sometimes life offers unexpected opportunities and I am so glad I accepted this one.
I honestly never expected to become my own boss. I always considered it a dream goal but never expected it to ever happen.
I’m now 100% in control of my career growth and financial future.
So you might be wondering what special knowledge I have that can help you be successful. And that’s a completely fair question.
Successful businesses all have something in common, clients. And to be able to work at home you need at least one paying client.
In addition to my experience running my own consulting company my most recent office job was in business development.
I can help you unlock the mystery of how to nurture and grow business relationships to find clients.
Most people think business development is sales. I think of it as facilitating solutions to key needs.
Business development and client development are like dating. Relationship building is essential and the solution should be a good match for both sides. By focusing on what you are already good at doing – your special sauce – you will be able to sign the right clients.
Being your own boss means being responsible for all the details. And it also means getting to celebrate all the successes. It means the ability to work from anywhere and at anytime of day. It means a higher need for prioritization and efficiency. And it means making extra effort to build business relationships.
Join me for the amazing journey on the other side of the office wall!
